VIETNAM
Vietnam is a dynamic country in Southeast Asia that combines a rich cultural heritage with rapid modern development. Renowned for its long history, diverse traditions, and resilient spirit, Vietnam offers a unique identity shaped by centuries of change and growth. The country is celebrated worldwide for its cuisine, which balances fresh ingredients and distinctive flavors, as well as for its natural beauty ranging from the limestone cliffs of Ha Long Bay to the terraced fields of the northern highlands and the vibrant river life of the Mekong Delta.
Major cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City represent Vietnam’s economic vitality and cultural dynamism, blending historical influences with contemporary innovation. At the heart of the nation are its people, whose warmth, determination, and hospitality leave a lasting impression on all who visit.
The "Áo dài" is Vietnam’s national dress and one of the most iconic symbols of the country’s culture and identity.
It first appeared during the Nguyễn Dynasty in the late 19th century as a long tunic worn over trousers, reflecting elegance and tradition.
In the early 20th century, especially around the 1930s and 1940s, the design became slimmer and more practical while still maintaining its modesty.
By the 1950s, the "áo dài" had evolved into a tighter, body-hugging form that highlighted elegance and femininity, becoming very popular among women in cities.
In 1958, the “Áo dài Bà Nhu” introduced bold changes with a wider collar and modern cuts, sparking discussions between tradition and innovation.
Through the 1970s and 1980s, the áo dài went through challenges but quickly regained popularity with vibrant fabrics, embroidery, and new designs.
Today, in the 21st century, the áo dài continues to flourish with a wide variety of styles, fabrics, and patterns.
It is worn not only in schools, weddings, and festivals but also proudly showcased on international stages.
More than just a piece of clothing, the áo dài represents Vietnam’s history, art, and timeless grace.
